Prescott Channel

The Prescott Channel is a flood relief channel cut between 1931 and 1935. In 1994 4,000 tons of stone from the Euston Arch were discovered submerged here.

Euston Station used to feature an imposing doric arch designed by Philip Hardwick. In 1962 the mainline station and underground were rebuilt to meet present day traffic requirements. The arch was dismantled and it seems the stones were used to block a hole in the canal.
