Mill Meads

During the Second World War, Mill Meads and Three Mills Green were home to over 100 allotments, run by the West Ham Allotment Society. Ordnance Survey maps show that allotments existed here from at least 1896.

There are still nearly 40 allotments on Mill Mead, just the other side of the Prescott Channel from Three Mills Green. The Green itself is owned and managed by the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority.  These wonderful managed green spaces provide a haven for wildlife with woodpeckers, wrens, sparrows, finches, kingfishers, and foxes regularly being sighted.
